Addressing a mega rally in Dwarka today ahead of Delhi assembly election, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched a frontal attack on the Aam Aadmi Party and also pointed out at the welfare policies that the union government has undertaken in the last six years. He further tried to corner opposition on the question of national security and their ‘support’ to people leading anti-CAA agitation in Delhi.
Narendra Modi accused the Kejriwal Government of not letting people benefitted by the pro-poor schemes kicked off by the government in the Centre.
“I want this politics of negativity to end in Delhi, and also want people in Delhi to be benefitted by all the central government schemes,” He said.
Recounting the list of schemes his government introduced, Ayushman Bharat Yojna, Jan Dhan Yojna, Ayush Bharat among various others, he claimed that the number of people benefitted by these welfare policies of the government is more than the population of many countries across the world.
Prime Minister further said that the speed of development in the country is unprecedented and that it is for the first time that the execution of the development process is being made at such a pace.
“I want Delhi to also develop at the same pace, if work is carried out at this massive scale in Delhi , a lot of problems would be solved. Desh Badla Hai Ab Dilli Badlega (Country has changed, now it’s time for Delhi)”, he asserted.
Switching gears, Narendra Modi then attacked opposition leaders and alleged that they were critical of the government even on issues of national security, like post-Pulwama Surgical Strike, abrogation of article 370 and more recently CAA. He then asked the crowd if they would punish such leaders.
Accusing the opposition of spreading a canard of lies over CAA, he reiterated that voters of Delhi were ‘wise’ to understand these electoral gimmicks.
“Delhi also needs strong leadership to stand by national interest over petty vote bank politics, “he said.
Picking up from his earlier speech in Karkardooma, he reiterated that his government has made sure than more than 40 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies of Delhi, get legal status.
Announcing that a special development board will be formed for the development of newly regularised colonies in Delhi, he said, “I congratulate the Delhi BJP for thinking in this line and will ensure that all support is provided from my end to this noble work done when BJP forms the government in Delhi.”
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi underlined the ongoing development work and said that his government was committed to strengthening Delhi Metro further.
“We have been working to ensure that it doesn’t take more than an hour to reach Delhi from Meerut. Metro was started in Delhi because of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. We will work towards extending the reach of the metro line and take it to newer heights. New metro lines are also being planned,” He said.
Talking about the need to strengthen tourism in Delhi, Prime Minister said that it was his government who opened Sundar Nursery and underlaid the construction work for Deen Dayal Park, a major source of attraction for tourists in Delhi.
